About Highland Park High School

Highland Park High School is a highly rated, four-year public school that is part of District 113. It is fed from the District 112 middle schools. It has a population of approximately 2000 students and offers more than 60 clubs and 30 athletic teams.

HPHS was ranked #17 in Illinois and #548 nationally by US News in 2016. It is accredited by the state of Illinois and the North Central Association.

Dr. Thomas Koulentes is the Principal. His professional honors and awards include the National Society of Secondary Scholars Distinguished Teaching Award in 2008, and the Microsoft Award for Most Innovative Teaching in the United States (2007). In 2005, Dr. Koulentes was a finalist for the Golden Apple for Teaching Excellence award.
